Tennr, a startup that automates manual work for healthcare organizations, secures $18million in series A round funding.

A16z led the round, in which Foundation Capital and The New Normal Fund also took part. Jennifer Kaehms, Zaza Pachulia, YCombinator, and other investors with an interest in AI and health were among the other investors (from the seed round).

With almost $25 million raised thus far, the company plans to develop its operations and expand its workforce.

Healthcare organisations can automate a variety of tasks using it, including medical record administration, payment posting, claims auditing, and referral processing. Tennr was co-founded by Trey Holterman, Diego Baugh, and Tyler Johnson.

In order to automate patient intake and insurance correspondence, it cleans up the data received from fax machines. Tennr is able to read faxes and comprehend what information should be taken out of them as well as where it should go.
